Cedar Lake 3rd TUBFC Tourney

AWESOME!! That is what the fishing was like on Cedar Lake today. Although my partner(Darrell Calhoun) and I did not get a check, the "FAT GIRLS" were eating today. As we can only weigh in 2 over the 18 inch and 4 under the 14 inch limit, we caught 6 over fish. Haven't figured out how to catch the under 14 inch fish. This is sad, today while fishin usually you hope for a good fish to bite, but we needed the under fish. Here you are catchin fish from 3.5 lbs to 5.5 lbs and wanting a 1.25 lb fish. We got a good laugh from that today. The water is from 41.7 to 45.1 degrees with a little color. The air temp today was a "BONE CHILLIN" 29 degrees. Sky was overcast and flurries. Wind was SSW around 10 some little gust. Darrell and I weighed in 2 fish for 10.87 lbs. We caught them on jerkbaits all day, catching a total of 7 fish. My best calculation for our biggest 5 girls would be between 22.5 to 22.75 lbs. Weighed the others on a x-tools scale. Like I said AWESOME!! Next tourney is JAN 3rd.

The water is gettin colder !!

Spent another 4 hours on Cedar Lake today. Not to bad today, I had 2 nice over fish to the boat, ( note to self: to land good fish it would help to have dip net ready) 1 was about a 4lber and the other about a 3lber or so. I also caught a 13 7/8 in under fish, which is the kind of under size you want at Cedar. Nice sunny day today, winds from the south 5-10 mph with a little gust, air temp was around 40 and the water 46.5-47.7 degrees. The rains that we had in the area this week didn't seem to bother the clarity of the water. I had been to Cedar last week-end but struggled to find the "Fat Girls". I found the fish today on lay down trees on a jerkbait. Hopefully the water temp. will continue to drop next week, but will have to see with a chance of rain coming.  

The Ultimate Bass Fishing Challenge: Cedar Lake

Today was a tough day on Cedar for Darrell(my TUBFC partner) and I. We had 6 fish today, 1 was over the slot and 5 was under for 5.58lbs. The jerkbait bite is not quite there yet. We did catch some of the smaller fish on jerkbaits and the over came on a crankbait. Didn't really here what the winners caught their fish on but they had around 12.5lbs. The baitfish seem to be out in the creek channels and the middle of the pockets in the deeper water suspended. The wind got a little gusty around mid-morning and then laid down a little in the afternoon. The water was clear, temp was 51.5-54.7 degrees depending on what area of the lake you were on. The next TUBFC tourney will be on Dec. 20th. Meanwhile, I will keep going to Cedar and try to find the "FAT GIRLS" and fish some little renegade tourneys.

Cedar Lake

Not a bad 4 hours today on Cedar Lake today. I caught a total of 7 fish today. One of which was a 19in, 4lb 9oz fat girl. What is even better it came off on new brush pile. Maybe it was put in a good spot after all. The other 6 fish were under the slot limit. The big fish I caught on a jig, the others were caught on a crankbait 10-12 ft diver outside the grass line. Didnt get to stay as long as I would haved liked today had to put a starter on the ole truck this afternoon. Still I feel pretty good about fishing The Ultimate Bass Fishing Challenge this Sunday on Cedar with my partner Darrell Calhoun.
